Earth Day Reforestation Volunteer Day

April 13 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

We are hosting two volunteer reforestation events for Earth Day 2024 on Saturday, April 13th and Saturday, April 20th!

We have openings for up to 25 volunteers each day. so sign up today! Volunteers will help plant hundreds of ponderosa pine seedlings at each event to help our forests begin to recover from the Cameron Peak Fire.

Participants will work with BTWC staff on a severely burned property in the Stringtown neighborhood in the Buckhorn area of the Big Thompson watershed (~8 miles past Masonville Mercantile).

This area has seen little regeneration since the fire and without our help may never return to a forested ecosystem. Volunteers will not only have the opportunity to learn more about the Cameron Peak Fire and its impacts on the Big Thompson watershed, but they can also get their hands dirty and feel good about helping our lands recover from the largest fire in the state’s history.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided to volunteers and a porta potty will be on site. All tools and protective equipment will also be provided.

We will encourage carpooling as parking is limited and recommend that only 4WD and AWD vehicles access the work site.
